THE RESURRECTION AND LIVING IN THE SPIRIT FOR CHRIST

Apr 14, 2026

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our Christian faith. As Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 15, if Christ had not been raised, our faith would be empty. But Christ has indeed risen as the firstfruits of those who will also rise, assuring believers of victory over sin and death and giving meaning to our labour in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:20–22, 58). The resurrection therefore provides both present hope and future glory, reminding us that through Christ, life triumphs over death. The resurrection life begins with dying with Christ. Before we can fully live in the power of His Spirit, we must first surrender the old self, our sinful nature, selfish desires, and former way of life. To identify with Christ means to participate spiritually in His death, allowing the power of the Cross to break the hold of sin over our lives. As Paul declares in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” This dying with Christ makes room for His life to be revealed in us.

In Galatians 5:16, Paul exhorts believers to “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Living in the Spirit is a daily decision to surrender our will to God’s guidance through obedience of His Word.

As we live according to the Spirit, the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23) becomes visible evidence of the resurrection life within us. These virtues demonstrate that we are no longer bound by the old life of sin but are renewed through Christ. As people of the resurrection, we are called to a life of hope in difficult times, and perseverance in trials, knowing that when Christ appears, we also shall appear with Him in glory.

I pray the power of Christ’s resurrection to inspire us to live daily in the Spirit, bearing fruit that glorifies God. And as we walk in the newness of life, may our lives proclaim the timeless truth: Christ is risen, and because He lives, we can surely face tomorrow.✨🕊
