Live The Word Now ("we", "our", "the app") is a faith-based mobile application that delivers daily Word of God content from livethewordnow.com. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
Push Notification Tokens
When you allow notifications, the app generates a device-specific push token (provided by Expo/Apple Push Notification Service). This token is stored securely in our database so we can send you notifications when new content is published. The token does not contain your name, email, or any personal information.
Locally Stored Data
The following data is stored only on your device using local storage and is never sent to our servers:
- Bookmarked/saved posts
- Reading streak count
- Reflection notes you write
- Amen reactions
- Dark mode preference
- Daily reminder settings
- Cached posts for offline reading
Content Data
The app fetches publicly available blog posts from livethewordnow.com via the Ghost Content API. No user account or login is required.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- No names, email addresses, or personal identifiers
- No location data
- No contacts or phone data
- No browsing history or tracking across apps
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Facebook SDK)
How We Use Information
- Push tokens — solely to send notifications about new daily Word posts
- Local data — solely to provide app features (bookmarks, streak, reflections) on your device
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share any data with third parties. Push tokens are stored in a secure AWS DynamoDB database and are used exclusively for delivering notifications through the Expo Push Notification service.
Data Retention
- Push tokens are automatically removed from our database when they become invalid (e.g., when you uninstall the app)
- Local data is deleted when you uninstall the app
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app contains religious/spiritual content and is intended for a general audience.
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Ghost CMS (livethewordnow.com) — content delivery
- Expo Push Notifications — notification delivery
- AWS Lambda & DynamoDB — push token storage and webhook processing
These services have their own privacy policies.
Your Rights
You can:
- Disable notifications at any time in your device settings
- Delete all local data by uninstalling the app
- Request token removal by contacting us
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
